Are generic drugs as good as brand name drugs?

The FDA only approves a generic drug for manufacture if it meets the same criteria as the brand name version. These include: having identical active ingredients, dosage, administration, cautions, warnings, product labeling, similar absorption rates, and consistency in manufacturing. In many cases generics are even produced in the same factories and on the same assembly lines as their brand-name counterparts. However, generic drugs are not acceptable in all cases. We utilize a national generic drug rating system to ensure that we identify generics only as appropriate.
